Take Away Lunch at the new Dog Track Belfast
This week I was invited to try the lunch menu at new restaurant Dog Track which opened back in December 2017. Brought to us by the people behind the Barking Dog on the Malone Road, Dog Track is on Ormeau Avenue and has a great environmentally friendly (and very cool) concept going when it comes to their take away lunches.
Your lunch comes in a two tier tiffin tin (shown in the title pic). Along with the filled, reusable tins, everything else that comes with your lunch is 100% recyclable.
The idea is you download their free App, then order, select a pickup time and pay through the app. The first time you pick up you pay a one-time deposit for the tin. Then, each time after that when you return, you hand in your empty tin (clean and undamaged) and get your lunch in another tin to take away.
I had the goat’s cheese, red pepper, tomato, rocket and balsamic salad, and the goat ragu with sweet potato mash. The food was fresh, full of flavour and there was plenty of it, all neatly prepped and ready to tuck into.
Sit In Small Plates
Sitting in its a different setup. A sushi bar type “Dog Track” runs around the outside of a completely open kitchen in the centre of the restaurant where the food is made in full view. You choose from the extensive tapas menu and your food is cooked to order.
The chefs are also firing out fresh made tapas onto the moving dog track. So while you wait, if you see anything you fancy going around the track, you just help yourself! The plates are colour coded and correspond to the price, so you know how much your spending as you eat from the track. Will definitely be back for both take away lunch and the sit in experience very soon.
Try it out!
So a cracking lunch combo with the app, take away tins, eco-friendly approach and of course excellent food. Get the app, get ordering, and give it a go.
Big thank you to Mick for lunch and the handy tiffin tins.
