Well they certainly didn’t do anything like this back in my day at school! In our canteen you walked in to see big Aggie standing there in a tunic you could’ve used for a ten man tent, ladle in hand, face like thunder, looking at you like she would slap the living daylights out of you , your Da and all your Uncles. And that’s before she served you up whatever ‘food’ was left over from the previous week.
A slightly different story here. Of course the Food Hall is open to everyone, it just so happened to be in the very moderne academic setting of the new Ulster University building in York Street, right across form Belfast’s stunning St Anne’s Cathedral.
The Food Hall is run by Mount Charles Catering and is made up of a neatly put together collection of eateries.
Juiced, a health juice & smoothie bar with all manner and mix ups of fruit and veg from the refreshing to the energy inducing to the antioxidant hit and everything else.
Made is a sandwich bar selling freshly made (hence the name) sandwiches, wraps and various other breads filled with ingredients. You can also grab soup or a salad and keep an eye out for the daily specials too.
La Creperie. Treat time! Sweet and savoury crepes, muffins and hot drinks on offer here.
Ripple, Ice cream and milkshakes, enough said!
How amazing is this!? Loads of choice in one place. You can pick one or mix and match to your stomach’s content. A healthy hit, hangover cure, soup and sandwich, savoury crepe or a monster milkshake, it’s all here. Not to mention that it’s a great place to meet up and catch up. There’s canteen style seating in the centre and more private little booths by the windows. Its really well lit and feels very relaxed.
The Food Hall launched just a couple of weeks ago with the Ohh Social App getting in on the act giving app users 2 for 1 offers on each of the 4 spots above. The sandwiches from Made were extra fresh and the cooked to order crepes filled with Nutella, pure gorge!
A great concept well executed by Mount Charles & the Food Hall.. Something different for folks to try.
A big thank you to Ohh Social and the Food Hall for the invite to the launch. The Food Hall is open 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday & 9am – 5pm Saturday.
