Right so I promise the title of this post will be my first and final ‘solo’ pun. Well, maybe not, but it was my first visit here in quite a while and this time I wasn’t ‘flying solo’ (sorry! 🙂 ), I was with my wee Mammy for a belated Mother’s Day meet up (she was busy feeding her face with afternoon tea elsewhere on the actual Mother’s Day, fair play to her, she deserves it!).
I took advantage of the very handy Ohh Social app of which Solo are a partner. Two for one on a lunch course, nice! Solo were awarded the Best World Food Ireland Restaurant 2017 at the Yes Chef Awards and their lunch menu is good example of why. Leaning slightly towards Italy there’s Chicken Loronzo, Seafood Linguini, Penne Aerabbiata and Tiramisu & Panna Cotta on the desserts list. Alongside this is a big Asian presence with Salt ‘n’ Chilli Squid, Honey Chilli Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and the ‘Solo Indian Curry’. The more ‘traditional’ dishes include Seafood Chowder, Chicken Goujons and Fish & Chips.
Mum went for Italian and the mushroom stuffed giant ravioli with a chorizo spicy tomato sauce (this has since been taken off the menu sadly). I was really craving a big burger so couldn’t choose anything else but. I reckon the photo below speaks for itself as far as the burger goes. Absolutely massive and mouthwatering, I asked for the cajun spice chips instead of the skin on fries which wasn’t a problem.
The table next to us were having the afternoon tea and after having had a good nosey I can say that it looked great too. You can choose from an extensive tapas menu, further enforcing the ‘World Food’ award and they also pride themselves on their cocktails here, including their signature ‘What’s the Quack’.
It’s a packed little foodie street in Wellington Place but Solo is hard to beat as far as variety goes. It offers its customers a choice of unique experiences be it afternoon tea with a twist, tapas and cocktails, a pre-theatre feed or a full on all singing all dancing multi-course marathon night out.
Be sure to check out the Ohh Social App before you visit here. Offers for Solo include two for one lunch mains, a la carte mains and buy 3 tapas & get 2 free cocktails!
The app is normally £14.99 but here you can get it for £10! an absolute bargain.
