Centra NI Launch Their “Live Well” Campaign

So I’ve taken quite a decisive stance on changing things for the better in 2017, not least the state of my health. The Skinny Bowtie page already has a couple of healthy & hearty (oat based!) recipes for you to try. Be sure to check them out when you’re done reading this.

The good people at MCE PR invited me along to the launch of Centra NI’s latest campaign. They have pledged to help Northern Ireland “Live Well” in 2017.

As part of this, they have assembled the Live Every Day Ambassador Lineup. A four strong team of experts and personalities on hand to offer advice and guidance for those looking to get into shape and stay healthy this year.

The Ambassador Lineup

Jane, Bridgeen and Johnny with Musgrave NI Managing Director Michael McCormack

Award winning nutritionist Jane McClenaghan is on the team to give loads of top advice on healthy cooking, providing recipes and eating tips. Fad weight loss gimmicks aren’t her thing, a diet that’s varied, balanced and sustainable are what’s important.

An integral part of Centra’s campaign is promoting mental wellbeing as well as physical. Wellness expert Bridgeen Rae has a Masters in Mindfulness Based Approaches and will be helping us all to ‘live in the here and now’ with a 10 week programme designed to help people manage a hectic lifestyle and the everyday stresses that come with it.

Two time Olympian and Commonwealth gold medalist Johnny Davis will be encouraging everyone to pound the pavement and get running to get fit this year. Following the success of the 2016 ‘Run Together’ initiative, 2017 will be bigger and better, with events taking place in more venues across Northern Ireland.

And finally, world renowned boxing coach Shane McGuigan, who’s training gym is home to the likes of former World Heavyweight Champion David Haye and of course current WBA Featherweight Champion, Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton. Shane will bring his motivation for sport and exercise, together with his strength and conditioning expertise, to get Northern Ireland moving with a full fitness plan which will feature on the Centra NI Facebook Page.

The Launch

The “Media & Blogger club” huddled into the MAC,  St Anne’s Square in Belfast’s hip and happenin’ Cathedral Quarter, somewhere I don’t visit often enough. A healthy display of breakfast and brunch put on by the in house cafe, Native, along with some very nice and much needed coffee having been to the gym earlier that morning. (just thought I’d throw that in there 🙂 ).

After a brief introduction from Marketing Director Desi Derby and Managing Director Michael McCormack, it was over to the Ambassadors. Jane was up first. She took us through a couple of quick and very easy breakfast ideas including an all in one breakfast smoothie which included oats, almond milk, loads of fruit and chia seeds.

Next, Bridgeen had the group practice some mindfulness exercises which were both fascinating and beneficial even in that short space of time. You can find more info on mindfulness and what Bridgeen does on the Immeasurable Minds website.

Johnny covered the plans for this years Run Together initiative and showed us a quick demo of the diversity of using a Swiss ball for stretching and exercise.

Even Shane McGuigan made an appearance by way of a short video, recorded at his training camp in Las Vegas ahead of Carl Frampton’s fight later this month.

Along with the help and support the Ambassadors will bring, Centra NI are launching a brand new range of product lines in their stores. These will include hydration, health and wellbeing and chilled foods.

Centra NI have invested £1m in the “Live Well” campaign and hope that it will help educate and inspire people and communities to make healthier choices and be more active in 2017.

Keep an eye out for events, information and to see what the experts have to say on the Centra NI Facebook Page and visit your local Centra store to find out more about “Live Well”.
