Coffee at Bullitt Belfast

Bullitt is Belfast’s newest hotel. A 4 star haven for anyone wishing to visit this great city. It’s been portrayed as the hippest hotel around, flooding social media with sneak peaks and hype long before it’s opening earlier this month. I hadn’t planned a visit quite this early in its existence but found myself down Anne Street yesterday lunch lunchtime so I popped into the lobby coffee bar for an opportunistic cuppa, a wee nosey round and yes, a look at ‘that’ painting.

This place is pretty much as cool as cool gets. I guess being named after the film staring Mr Cool himself Steve McQueen, it ought to be.

Speaking to Lee, one of the Managers, he explained their aim was high end, good service but casual and they’ve managed this expertly. Decor wise you’ve got tiled flooring, steel beam structure on show, funky furniture and fetching artwork, including a man sized canvas of the main man  (which you may have seen on the news recently for wrong and slightly bizarre reasons).

What I really loved was the ‘coffee tech’ the lobby was sporting. A custom made Kees van der Westen, said to be the ‘Rolls Royce of coffee machines’ as Lee put it. Very impressive indeed and I was allowed a sneak in behind the bar to see it in action.

Matching the bespoke coffee kit you have the knowledge, enthusiasm and coffee art skills of Jamie & Paul. These fellas are very serious about their coffee and I don’t think I’ve met anybody as passionate about their role as a barista. They will happily give you the low down on the blends they serve if that’s what you’d like. On offer, an Egyptian and a Brazilian bean.with a decaf option. They also have little flash cards telling you what to expect from each one, nice.

This place 100% meets the hype and expectations built up at the same time as the hotel itself. Superb coffee. great service and an atmosphere to match. You can even get your shoes shined while you sip on your cappuccino!

Will return soon to try the food, and more coffee of course.

Thanks to Lee, Jamie, Paul and the rest of the Bullitt team.
