Cafe Le Petit Ormeau, Ormeau Road, Belfast
Le Petit Ormeau was the venue for an all too rare Family outing with Mum, Dad and Auntie. The cafe is situated on the Ormeau Road which has seen a lot of activity lately when it comes to opening of cafes and restaurants. So much so that there’s now a dedicated food tour for the area taking place on 12 October during Belfast Restaurant Week. Read more about the Ormeau Road food tour.
This was a Saturday morning so the road was busy for breakfast with people willing to brave the elements as it was chucking it down. Mum recommended Cafe Le Petit Ormeau as she’d been there before. Plus it was close by where we parked, so in we dashed.
A Very Tasty Breakfast Indeed
“Gorgeous coffee too… up there with the best of them”
As expected, quite a crowd but we got the one remaining table at the back. The menu has the very French slant the name of the cafe suggests and a there’s a very continental vibe in the cafe in general. Sadly today it was a wet autumn weekend on the continent.
I went for the waffle with poached egg, crispy bacon and maple syrup and a strong Americano to go with it. A very tasty breakfast indeed with the sweet waffle and syrup, perfectly poached egg and no scrimping on the bacon. Gorgeous coffee too.
No complaints about the service either despite how busy it was and a nice price at just under £30 for 4 big breakfasts and 4 coffees.
It’s a highly competitive little area on the Ormeau Road these days and this is a great wee cafe that’s up there with the best of them.
